Love

That which will sustain me when I have no strength,
Comfort me when I am in pain,
Assure me when I am in doubt,
Console me when I feel alone,
Cheer me when it seems there is only sadness,
Bear me up when I feel I've borne too much,
Calm me when I want to rail at God and the world,
Humble me when fame or good fortune tends to swell my head,
And affirm me when I am filled with joy,
Is the gift of love that I may choose to give
To those around me, whether they love me back or not.
I am able to receive love only when I have truly given it,
Without expectation, without condition, and with sincerity.
